Catherine Bull

Catherine Bull is the flutist in the Baroque-ensemble Harmonie Universelle, and has played with Blue Hill Bach and with Music in the Great North Woods. Before coming to Downeast Maine, she was principal flutist for the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra and the Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra in Atlanta. She has performed numerous times at the Early Music Festivals of Utrecht, Boston, and Berkeley, and many times for the Congress of the International Viola d’amore Society (Germany). After receiving degrees from UNC- Chapel Hill and the New England Conservatory of Music, she went to the Netherlands and Belgium for post-graduate studies as a Rotary Fellow. She has performed throughout Europe, China, Japan, and the United States, and her concerts have been heard on NPR’s Performance Today. In 2002, she became the first musician to receive a grant from the King Baudouin Foundation for study in Belgium. Most recently she has joined the ensemble Three Notch’d Road for performances of Bach’s St. John and St. Matthew Passions in the Baltimore Basilica.
